Dear Friend,
Merry Christmas to you all!
I hope those of you who have been operating a
mall cart or kiosk this season are enjoying a
well-deserved day off.
And are getting ready for another big shopping
day on the 26th.
***
Just a quick note about December 26th and the
week ahead.
When you compare the traffic and sales for this
upcoming week to those early days of October and
November, you will often be pleasantly surprised.
December 26th is usually one of the busiest traffic
days of the year at the mall.
And the whole week between Christmas and New
Years is generally much busier than normal.
You will find that people are still very willing to
spend their money.
Of course, it is going to SEEM slow compared with the
few weeks leading up to Christmas. Nothing will compare
with those days.
But the week after Christmas can be another great week
for sales. The key is to approach it with the right attitude.
***
I remember my first year in the mall, two of my better
salespeople Brian and Vitaly kind of stopped 'trying' on
the day after Christmas.
They 'goofed off' all day, and didn't sell much.
But my best salesperson, Emily, busted her butt all day
long. And she hit commission, just like she did every day.
Of course, I pointed this all out to Brian and Vitaly.
Now Brian and Vitaly were two young guys with a lot
of pride. When they saw how well Emily was selling,
they did not want to be outdone by her.
They re-focused their attitude, and for the rest of the
week, they matched Emily's sales dollar for dollar.
***
The difference between the day after Christmas and
the rest of the week for Brian and Vitaly wasn't mall
traffic or buying mentality... simply their attitude.
If you and your staff bring the 'right' attitude this
upcoming week, you may be pleasantly surprised
at your sales!
***
I hope the rest of the holiday season goes well for
you. I will be talking to you again soon!
